CULT EPICS IS PROUD TO PRESENT: THE RENE DAALDER COLLECTION
Multi-faceted, multi-hyphenate writer/director Rene Daalder's career spans several decades and many disciplines. His six feature films include his controversial European debut THE WHITE SLAVE, written with his life-long friend Rem Koolhaas, and the American teen cult classic MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH. Expanding into popular music, Daalder received a Grammy nomination for best long-form music video, and has collaborated with artists as varied as Supertramp, The Sex Pistols, and Beck. Later he widened his focus, pioneering the use of digital visual effects in Hollywood movies and writing extensively on computers, art and architecture for MIT Press, Rizzoli and Taschen Books. Moreover, he has curated critically acclaimed art exhibits in Los Angeles and Amsterdam and a symposium on conceptual art films at UCLA.
After his critically acclaimed documentary on Bas Jan Ader, HERE IS ALWAYS SOMEWHERE ELSE, Daalder's current projects include the sci-fi documentary, THE TERRESTRIALS, about the young-20s generation, done with the active participation of the Timothy Leary Archive (now in post-production). Also in progress is an intimate portrait of architect Rem Koolhaas and a CGI animated feature utilizing the songs of The Beatles. In addition, Daalder is the creator, along with Folkert Gorter, of the remarkably successful online think tank: www.spacecollective.org dedicated to The Future of Everything.
